Ticknall Community Orchard
Posted: Tue, 08 Mar 2022 17:51 by Celia Bunston
To commemorate the Queen's platinum jubilee, and to support Her Majesty's vision for a 'green canopy' of trees to be planted across the UK, we are creating a community orchard In Ticknall. The National Trust has kindly agreed, in conjunction with the current tenant, to allow the use of Archway field for this purpose. This will be a lasting legacy of a special year - creating much needed orchard habitat, which is in itself threatened, preserving heritage fruit trees and offering a space for quiet contemplation for the residents of Ticknall. Seven trees will be planted before the end of March, one for each decade of Her Majesty's reign, and a bench installed. More trees will be planted in the autumn and community events planned. The Parish Council look forward to telling you more about this exciting project in due course. More »
