Ticknall Parish Council

I moved to Ticknall in 2006 with my husband and 3 children and we all immediately felt at home in the village environment after a life spent in cities. One of our sons played for Ticknall Cricket Club and although he now plays for a team in Wellington in New Zealand the close connection remains. I was co-opted onto the Parish Council in 2017 and then stood at the next election. I have been Vice-Chair for the last 2 years. As part of community connections the Parish Council recommends a community Governor for Dame Catherine's School and I have done that for 5 years. I've also been part of organising some of the local events - for the centenary of the Armistice in 2018, the Jubilee last year and the Coronation this year. We also reformed Ticknall WI last year and are now a thriving group of nearly 50.

I have finally retired from working in the NHS and then laterally at the University of Leicester and am already looking forward to walking our new puppy Poppy with my husband Graham. We are fortunate in Ticknall in having a village which has so many advantages but it takes a strong local team to liaise with service providers to ensure we can remain so, and also to provide my voice in the system when needed. I have enjoyed being part of that team and would love to continue.
